• Like me, you are a student working on your degree in psychology. What drew you to the subject?
I have ALWAYS had a keen interest in what makes people tick. Why they react the way they do in certain situations. Why they react DIFFERENTLY when that’s the case. I have never NOT wanted to know and tried to understand those things about people.
More recently, however, I have seen a lot of “throw away kids”. The issues these kids have are just… jaw dropping. The pain and frustration that builds up in their little hearts and minds is just a ticking time bomb when they don’t have the tools to help them overcome it and work through it. So many of them don’t. I literally hurts my heart to see it. I want to make a difference for any of them that I can. A REAL difference. So… back to school I went to finish the degree I started 20 some odd years ago.
• We both have boys who are Star Wars addicts. If you were to play a character in any of the movies, who would you be and why?
God. Can I just say? Back in the day, when the TRUE Star Wars movies came out I was a huge Star Wars fan. YOOGE! However, my son… yeah he borders on obsessive. Heh. I am Sick. To. DEATH. of Star Wars in all forms.
However, if I HAD to be a Star Wars Character? I would be Obi Wan Kanobi. He dies an honorable death and lived his life as honorably as he could. Good man.
• List the 10 blog post titles that best describe your life.
The Evolution of Me
I Get Knocked Down…
Guilty Pleasures Are the Best Kind
Exhausted…
I Can’t Get No…
Tears of Frustration
Humble Pie
A Cry for Help…
Tell Me Lies, Tell Me Sweet Little Lies…
Trying to Step Out of the Black
The titles don’t fit my WHOLE life but definitely fit my current struggles and the last chapter or two.
• I love Halloween, but I hate wearing costumes. What are the best and worst costumes you have ever worn?
God… The BEST was probably … yanno… I don’t even KNOW what I’ve been for Halloween for the years. The only costumes I remember are my Tap Dance Recital outfit when I went as a showgirl at the age of like… 8 or 9 and The Bruise costume. They both have stories associated with them which, I guess is WHY I remember these two in particular.
Some “old” dude in his 30’s wolf whistled at me when I was the showgirl and I FREAKED THE HELL OUT. I mean ran away crying all the way home… and my father was WITH me. LOL. I’ve never taken compliments well I guess.
The Bruise Story is simply that the costume was AWFUL. LOL. Purple, black, blue and green plaid leggings and a blue shirt. I used blue eye make up all over my hands and face and stuff to make bruises on them. AWFUL.
• I’m coming to visit you – for 24 hours – what are we going to do in that limited time frame?
24 Hours? Well if you were going to the lake we would chill on the front porch or back porch sipping wine and just chillin’ together. Chatting and watching my son act a fool. (NOTHING to do there… NOTHING) Though I might have to slip in a lightsaber duel or two on the Wii heh. AFTER we were drunk, of course.
If you went to Houston? Well, we’d prolly find a Karaoke bar so I can show off mah singing chops a lil. Then go to a lil blues club downtown that’s quiet and great for just chillin and talking. During the day we would go SHOPPING at the Galleria.
