I’ve started on a bunch of Herbalife products in the last couple of weeks. My favorite new thing is the Peach/Mango beverage mix. It’s got 15 grams of protein per 8 oz glass. It helps me stay full and it’s dang tasty! (And it goes a LONG way toward helping me get my 125 – 150g of protein per day.)

WOOOT!

I find the dynamics of friendship interesting.

I have a group of friends that are flung far and wide. The are “my friends” and everyone I consider a friend is thrown into the same pot. Then I have subsets of friends that come from that group. I have my “online friends” and my “face to face friends”. Those can be broken down into even smaller groups like “people I’ll support any way I can” and “casual friends”. I can break those down further until I come to the one-on-one relationship I have with each and every person that falls into “my friends” as a whole.

My friendship with each person is unique. Each has it’s own set of rules, quirks and needs. Each effects the larger subsets in it’s own way, but none rule the others as a whole. I can be irritated with someone personally and yet still function within a group setting with them. The group dynamic is more important to me than my personal beef with someone and so I can set that aside for the betterment of the group… most of the time.

Unfortunately, sometimes there events that occur that prevent me from being “The Bigger Person” and shit. hits. the. fan. It happened in October. With my sister-in-law. IN A RESTAURANT. WITH OTHER FRIENDS IN ATTENDANCE. We both lost our shit in one of those chick arguments that potentially brings the cops to a public place. After, I was mortified. We managed to work things out between the two of us. However, the group fall out… that’s another story. Some still lay blame at my feet. Some have used it as an excuse to be bitchy or petty. Others just let the fracas run its course and moved past it themselves.

This is a perfect example of how group friendships are a difficult thing to balance. Are they worth it? Hell yeah. However, no one handles them the same way and that complicates things… HUGELY. It leads me to question myself. Are my views on friendship odd? Are they in some way skewed? Should individuals issues with one another cause a problem for the group as a whole? What do you think?

Sunday, Shecky turns 10. Double Digits. Tween status will be achieved. It’s so difficult to believe he’s THAT old already. Soon he’ll be going through puberty, his voice will change, he’ll want to drive himself everywhere. Then he’ll be striking out on his own. The letting go, it needs to start now. I need to do it slowly so it doesn’t rip my heart out of my chest. It has to happen.

Unfortunately, the first stage of it is already beginning. He’ll turn 10, celebrate this milestone, without me. He is in Texas with his Dad. He’ll be there until the 1st of August or somewhere around there. It’s killing me. Just this small thing is, literally, shattering my heart. I have so many conflicting feelings about it.

However, I think it may be a good thing. A way for me to start letting him come into his own. A way to learn to watch him grow from a bit more of a distance, while still keeping a watchful eye.

Life is about learning and change and growth. If it stagnates, we die in one way or another.

Somehow, I don’t think I’ll ever have to worry about that last part. I’ve started on a new path. Well, not a NEW path. It’s something thousands of people have done/are doing. It’s new to me though. I am now a distributor for Herbalife products.

First, let me eat a lil crow here. My ex in-laws are involved in Amway. I gave them a TON of grief over their decision to become involved in it. I kinda get it now though. I didn’t sign up to become a millionaire or to secure our retirement. I signed up because I’m using the Herbalife products and I’m a believer in their value and ability to get me healthy and I want my family and friends to be able to be healthy too. If I manage to make a lil extra money at the same time, yanno, WOOT! If not, that’s cool too.

Now, I want to be clear about something, I’m not turning this blog into an advertisement for Herbalife. I may occasionally talk about some new supplement I’m using or some product that is helping me achieve my goals but it will be ENTIRELY because I like the product and want to share my experience. I’m not being paid by the company. I’m not doing it to get a sales bump. It’s because I’m excited about the product. Period. Full Stop. If someone is interested in the product or any other they can contact me for more information or even a sample of it (depend on what the item is samples may be available) or whatever, but please, do not EVER feel I’m trying to score a sale with what I say here on my blog about the products. This is MY blog. It’s about MY life and MY experiences. Working on losing weight has taken me through all sorts of plans, diets, methods and theories and this is just another of those in my journey. I’m still going to talk about my child, my family, my friends and my irritants.

Finally, I am going to say this once. If anyone is interested in Herbalife products or information on them, feel free to contact me at tessashealthywelltheewhys@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to talk to any of you about it!

So, my child, he is gone for another 5 weeks. The control freak in me is NOT happy. Yeah, his with his dad and his paternal grandparents. Yes, I know they would never do anything to endanger him or harm him. However, The Control Freak, she’s not so understanding.

The Ex and I, we parent very differently. I tend to be about rules and structure and stuff. He tends to take a much more laid back approach. It’s not necessarily a BAD thing. I get that. However, The Control Freak gets annoyed with changes like letting a 9 year old drink Amp’d Energy Drinks.

I’m trying to keep it in check. The things that are going on really AREN’T huge problems. The child IS on vacation after all. The Control Freak needs to go on vacation too. Anyone wanna put her up for a few days?

Seriously folks, Herbalife shakes WORK. They’re yummy. They’re versatile. They’re EASY PEASY. They are FILLING! (Even MORE so with the Personal Protein Powder they offer. Holy crap. That stuff helps curb my hunger like crazy. We ran out and I was STARVING for the week we didn’t have any.)

There’s more to their line of Nutrition Products but, unfortunately, we can’t afford anything extra at this point. Hopefully we’ll be starting on some of the other supplemental stuff soon! I’ll let you know if it makes a difference or not.

I’m not being paid or compensated for any of this. I’m telling you because it’s working. I’m happy about it. I feel SO MUCH BETTER when I drink these shakes than when I eat crappy food like we so often did. Finally, I’m telling you because this is my blog and I can say what I want. Heh.

Today is one of those days. I had time to reflect, time to ponder. I got to thinking about friends from Jr. High and High School and all the very different directions our lives have gone in. Then, I started thinking of those who’s lives I know NOTHING about anymore. I wonder…

Did Beth ever get it together?
Did Elizabeth every do anything with all that athletic ability of hers?
Where IS Janie and what is she doing now? Did she ever meet the one? Did she ever marry?
Where did Tracy end up?
And Scott?
And Rob?
What do they do in their work-a-day lives?
Is the current economy hurting them or are they doing well?

It goes on…

So many people touch our lives as the years fly by. I wonder…

I miss who we all were “back in the day”. I remember each of them fondly for who they were and who they were to me. I hope they’re all doing well. Living well. Loving well. Content with the lives they’ve built, yet always striving to be more, be stronger, stretch themselves.

That’s my wish for all of us really.
