    This week has been… interesting.

Monday around 1pm the school called. Shecky was running a fever of 100.7 and had to be picked up from school. Meh. Greeeeeaaaaat. My Darling J went to pick said fever beset child from school only to be greeted by a LINE of children waiting to be picked up. All had fever. What. The. Hell?

Apparently, HALF of Shecky’s class was sent home that day. Seriously, of 22 kids, HALF were out from about 1pm Monday until Thursday. That’s an insane amount of flu, yo!

Thursday, after FINALLY being without fever for 24 hours sans meds… he went back to school. FRIDAY, he was back home with an earache. Sigh. I had to find him a doctor, make sure it was a doctor on our insurance, make sure they were taking new patients, make sure they could see him THAT DAY… I got lucky. He was seen at 3:45pm Friday and was diagnosed with an inner ear infection… in … both… ears. Antibiotics were prescribed, filled and taken.

Of course, Friday was crazy for more than that. Oh… my friends… That Mr. Murphy… and his fucking laws… I am their bitch!

Thursday night, around 9:30pm, J and I were in the basement playing video games (Don’t judge us! heh) and I had to peeeeeeeeee. Badly. So I dashed off to the bathroom in the basement and… squish. What. The. FUCK? was heard… Twice.

I hollered for J to come see… the carpet. It was SOAKED. J opened the door to the room the moisture seemed to be coming from… Shecky’s play room… and… WOAH! The carpet was soaked. No puddles of standing water mind you. But when you walked, it squished, loudly, and spit water, a lot.

We immediately went into “Fix it” mode. We checked the rest of the basement. One other room, which thankfully had a cement floor, had water in it as well. Busted pipe? Water Main? Seepage? CRAAAAAAAAAP

Turns out the culprit is MOST LIKELY seepage flooding. It rained all day Thursday. It was the first full day of rain since we had bought the house. We bought a wet/dry vac to suck up the water. Then we decided we were going to take that carpet out and toss it. We phear mold.

Today will be the ripping out stage of our plan. Fortunately, my SIL, henceforth known as Glowie, and her family are coming to help us out! Her hubby, forever more known as BigSexyDaddy, (TY Cylithria for these nicknames. They are stuck in mah head FOREVAH lol) is going to lend us his muscles and his back and his time and his energy. We are so very lucky to have family like this! (They are bringing the chil’runs as well! WOOT! I get to spoooooooil.)

Time for me to go! I need to Maggie May proof the house as best I can and get the kitchen clean so I can start teh Gumbo that will be tonight’s dinner!

I hope you all had a good week and have an even better weekend!
