Today is a VERY important day. No, not my birthday… nor my anniversary. It’s not some weight loss milestone or something I want to mark in blog history…

My friend Yoonamaniac is becoming a citizen of the United States of America today. That is so fricking cool.

Her momentous day got me to thinking about what it means to be a citizen of the US. What makes it such a great and powerful thing. We have all KINDS of freedoms… that generally… we take for granted. We have a democracy that is of the people… by the people… for the people… and abused by those given the power to run it.

While, in theory, our country is founded on some pretty great ideas and principals that is kinda swept under the carpet when it comes to why we’re great…

We’re great because of the people that are here. The people that belong here. The people that make their mark and their way… HERE.

Yoona is an OUTSTANDING individual. Her story isn’t mine to tell, so I won’t. However, I am so very fortunate and proud to be able to call someone like her friend. She’s loving, kind and giving. She’s smart as a fricking whip! She’s got a gentle spirit and a big heart. She and others like her are what make our country a great place to live and belong to.

Thanks for making it a better place Yoona, a better world. Contrats hon. I love you LOADS!
